The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission has warned stakeholders regarding a fake notice of the 2025 local government elections currently circulating on social media and various online platforms.
A statement released on Friday by the Chairman of the Commission, Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile (retd), clarified that the notice was not issued by LASIEC.
“It has come to the attention of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) of the fake 2025 notice of elections currently circulating on social media and various online platforms, purportedly from the commission,” the statement read.
LASIEC advised citizens, particularly political parties and other stakeholders, to disregard the misleading publication.
“The commission wishes to state unequivocally that such notice of election did not emanate from the commission and hereby advises citizens, in particular, political parties and all other critical stakeholders to disregard such publications,” it added.
The commission also reaffirmed that the process for conducting local government elections in the state is clearly defined by law. It assured the public that the official notice of elections will be published at the appropriate time, as required by law.
“The commission hereby reiterates that the conduct of local government 3lection in Lagos State is a process that is guided by laws, and at the appropriate time as stipulated by law, the notice of election shall be published in the various Newspapers,” it added.
